Hamsik ha raggiunto proprio Maradona, per numero di goal in serie A (81). Detiene il record di apparizioni in competizione europee (56). Marek è il terzo calciatore con più presenze in tutte le competizioni nella storia del club, preceduto da Giuseppe Bruscolotti (511) e Antonio Juliano (505), ed il quinto marcatore di sempre in tutte le competizioni (primo tra i centrocampisti).
Al di là dei numeri, Marek è un calciatore che ama Napoli ed il Napoli. Ogni anno il suo nome viene accostato ad altre squadre, ma lui non tradisce mai i colori azzurri, rinunciando ad ingaggi più alti.
Lo slovacco è un raro caso di attaccamento alla maglia. Sempre più raro.
