Ora son cento. Ma era ancora un ragazzino
in quel di Brescia, nebbiosa città. Pier Paolo Marino gli prospettò il mare ed il sole di Napoli città, ed un progetto di grandeur. Quello di un club nato 3 anni prima, dalle ceneri di una squadra che, dalle stelle di Maradona, era sprofondata alle stalle di Naldi e Corbelli. Anche le grandi del nord avevano pensato a lui. Ma se lo fecero scappare. Non credettero fino in fondo nelle qualità di quel ventenne che già nel Brescia in serie B, aveva mostrato indiscutibili doti tecniche e personalità. Lui, giovane rigorista in un mondo di grandi.
Era il Napoli di Blasi, di Lavezzi e Gargano, di capitan Cannavaro. Del portiere Iezzo, che ne aveva abbracciato la causa qualche anno prima, pregiudicando forse la possibilità di approdare in Nazionale. Era un Napoli appena promosso in seria A. La cui massima aspirazione era quella di salvarsi, andò invece ben oltre. Fu allora che iniziò una love story che dopo tanti anni dura ancora. Qualche dubbio da parte di Marek, solo nel periodo in cui, un mercante di uomini, di nome Raiola, provó a strapparlo alla “sua terra”. Tanto che lo slovacco gli tolse il mandato e cambiò procuratore.
